Assisted designer Bruce Auerbach with research and execution for a puppet adaptation of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". Duties included creating and maintaining organized paperwork including magic sheet, cue list, and research materials for team presentations. Also involved attending rehearsals and production meetings, leading focus calls with a team of student electricians, and collaborating with Professor Auerbach during the cue-building process.
Prior to the technical execution of our ideas, Prof. Auerbach and I collaborated on research regarding the source material (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari), silent films of the 1920s, and related genres. This led us down the path of styles commonly seen in 1920s/early horror, and during our research of expressionism and film noir, the use of harsh angles, heavy shadow, and elongated form stood out as motifs we wanted to incorporate.
